Solar & Battery Installers in Young

Solar and batteries for Young homes, orchards and farms
All-black solar panels with black frames

Young is famous for its cherries, and the Hilltops region around it is a mix of orchards, vineyards, grazing and cropping country. Summers are warm and winters bring regular frosts, which suit the fruit but push up heating bills. We travel to Young and the surrounding district to install solar panels and home batteries for homes, orchards and local businesses.

Our services

Residential solar from 6 kW
Our systems generally start at 6 kW and are sized from your bills.

Home batteries
Use your daytime solar on cold winter evenings and warm summer nights. Batteries are cheaper thanks to the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. We apply the discount upfront, so there’s nothing to claim later. Until 31 December 2026 it’s about $270 per kWh for the first 14 kWh of usable capacity at today’s certificate prices, tapering for larger batteries, and it reduces again on 1 January 2027.

Orchard and farm solar
Cool rooms, packing sheds and workshops can use a lot of daytime power during harvest. We’ll look at your seasonal usage and give you a clear proposal.

NSW households can also get a one-off incentive for signing their battery up to a virtual power plant (VPP), under the state’s Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. It applies to up to 28 kWh of capacity and is paid through participating VPP providers.

Cool rooms, harvest peaks and frosty mornings

Cherry growers and other orchardists often see a big jump in power use over a short harvest, when cool rooms and packing lines run flat out. Solar suits that daytime load well, but because the peak is seasonal, we look at your usage across the whole year so the system makes sense in the quieter months too. If the cool room is on a separate meter, we look at that supply on its own.

Cold, clear winter days are good for panel efficiency, though shorter days mean less output. Batteries have operating temperature limits, so we install them somewhere sheltered, such as a garage or shed wall, to the Australian battery standard, AS/NZS 5139. Spring storms can bring hail, so we use panels that meet the IEC 61215 standard, which includes hail impact testing.

Frequently asked questions

Can solar cover my cool room?
It can offset a lot of daytime cool room use. We look at the meter, the load and the season to size it properly.

Which network is Young on?
Essential Energy. We handle the connection application.

Is a battery worth it?
It depends on how much solar you export and when you use power. We’ll show you the expected savings before you decide.
