Claim Thousands Off Your Battery System with the Federal Battery Rebate
You can significantly reduce the cost of your battery system thanks to the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program — with savings applied upfront at the time of installation.

How the Federal Battery Rebate Works
The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes thousands of dollars off the cost of a home battery. The discount comes off your quote upfront. There’s no claim form and nothing to wait for, because we handle the paperwork.
How much you get depends on two things:
- Your battery’s usable size (kWh). The first 14 kWh gets the full rate, kWh 14–28 get 60% of it, and kWh 28–50 get 15%. Nothing above 50 kWh qualifies.
- Your installation date. The rate drops every six months. The date that counts is the day your battery is installed, not the day you sign.
Installed by 31 December 2026, the discount is up to about:
- $272 per kWh for the first 14 kWh
- $163 per kWh from 14 to 28 kWh
- $41 per kWh from 28 to 50 kWh
On 1 January 2027 the rate steps down by about 16%, and it keeps falling every six months until the program ends in 2030. If you’re thinking about a battery, installing before the new year locks in the current rate.
Extra in NSW: connect your battery to an eligible virtual power plant (VPP) and you may also get a one-off NSW Government incentive under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme, on top of the federal discount. The amount depends on the VPP provider and is calculated on up to 28 kWh of capacity. Joining a VPP is optional.
To qualify, the battery must be an approved product between 5 and 100 kWh, installed with new or existing solar, VPP-capable, and installed by a Solar Accreditation Australia–accredited installer. Only one battery rebate is allowed per property. We check all of this during your free energy assessment.
How Much Can You Save?
Final rebate values vary slightly by product and state. We handle all eligibility checks and applications on your behalf.
| Usable battery size | Approx. discount, installed by 31 Dec 2026 | Approx. discount, installed 1 Jan – 30 Jun 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| 10 kWh | ~$2,720 | ~$2,280 |
| 13.5 kWh | ~$3,640 | ~$3,040 |
| 20 kWh | ~$4,760 | ~$4,000 |
| 32 kWh | ~$6,240 | ~$5,240 |
Example: a 20 kWh battery installed in December 2026 gets the full rate on the first 14 kWh (about $3,808) plus 60% on the next 6 kWh (about $979). Once certificates are rounded down, that comes to around $4,760 off. The same battery installed in January 2027 gets around $4,000 off, roughly $760 less.
Figures are estimates based on the government’s published rate and certificate price, and may vary slightly. Your quote will show the exact discount.
Solar + Battery or Battery Retrofit
Designed Around Your Property
Solar + Battery Packages
Ideal for new builds or properties upgrading their entire energy system.
Solar and battery are designed together to maximise generation, charging efficiency, and long-term savings.
Battery Retrofits
(Add a Battery to Existing Solar)
- Store excess solar instead of exporting it for low feed-in credits
- Increase self-consumption of your own energy
- Reduce reliance on the grid
- Add blackout protection and future VPP capability
We assess your existing solar system, inverter compatibility, and usage patterns to ensure the battery delivers real, measurable value.
In-Depth Energy Analysis & Custom Battery Design
No Guesswork. No One-Size-Fits-All Systems.
Every battery system we install begins with a detailed energy assessment. For every home or business, we analyse:
- Historical energy bills and interval data
- Day vs night energy usage patterns
- Solar production and export behaviour
- Single-phase or three-phase supply
- Backup power requirements
- EV charging and future expansion plans
- Anticipated changes to the property or business
This allows us to accurately size and scale your battery system so it performs properly — now and into the future.
The result:
A battery solution that actually works for your lifestyle or business, not one that simply looks good on paper.
We work with a wide range of SAA-approved, premium battery brands, offering options to suit different budgets and energy goals.
