Our systems generally start at 6 kW, but a narrow terrace roof may physically limit what fits. We’ll tell you honestly what your roof can take, and whether the numbers stack up.
Home batteries
Store daytime solar for the evening. In a terrace, the battery location takes some thought, and we’ll find a compliant spot. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program cuts the price of eligible batteries, and the discount comes straight off your quote. Installed before the end of 2026, it’s worth around $270 for each kWh of usable storage up to 14 kWh (based on current certificate prices). Storage beyond 14 kWh attracts less, and the rate drops from 1 January 2027.
Strata and small business
Apartment blocks, shop-top terraces and small offices on Oxford Street can all look at solar. Strata buildings usually need owners corporation approval for work on common property such as the roof.
In NSW you may also be eligible for an upfront incentive under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme when you connect your battery to a virtual power plant (VPP). It’s paid on up to 28 kWh of battery capacity, through participating VPP providers.

Working within the heritage conservation area
Paddington falls across two councils, Woollahra and the City of Sydney, and both have heritage controls. In Woollahra, for example, the planning controls for heritage conservation areas say solar systems shouldn’t face the primary road and should sit neatly on the roof plane, or a development application may be needed. In practice, the rear roof, a roof valley or the area behind a parapet is usually the best spot. We’ll design a layout that fits those rules and check with you before anything is lodged.
Access is the other challenge. Narrow lanes, shared walls and no side access mean equipment often has to come through the house or over the rear lane, and scaffolding may be needed. Battery placement has its own rules under the Australian battery standard, AS/NZS 5139, so we’ll look at the rear courtyard, under the stairs or another compliant location.
